Malayalee Engineer's Association (MEA) started a scholarship program in 2000 to help students in Kerala pursue engineering, technology, computer science, or naval architecture studies leading to a Bachelor's Degree.
They have awarded over 45 scholarships over the past few years. The award is for $500 (revised amount for awards from 2007) per year for 4 years ($2000 in all) provided the awardee maintains the high academic standard set by MEA and is based on a merit-cum-means criteria (academic quality and financial need).
